Tokens for the ₹2500 pongal gift announced by the government of TamilNadu to be issued from today!

Coimbatore district has 1419 goverment ration shops with a count of 10,37,000 ration card holders.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu government had earlier announced a cash gift of 2500 ruppes per family with the upcoming Tamil harvest festival Pongal.

The government issued coupons to get this cash gift is all ready to be given to the public at the respective ration shops from today.

Coimbatore district has 1419 goverment ration shops with a count of 10,37,000 ration card holders.



The token distribution for the Pongal cash gift has begun from today and the tokens will we distributed to the public from morning till evening till 31st.



To prevent public crowding the ration shops 200 coupons will distributed per day at the ration shops.

The district administration officers have said that the cash amount will be distributed from the 4th of January.

The government has ordered that the amount should be given as 2000 and 500 rupees note in hand and not to be given in a cover.

The government has also planned to distribute a large sugarcane along with the Pongal gift and the ration shop distributours have said that there is lack of space to store the sugarcane Inside the shops.
