Special prayers were made for the people who are sick and under treatment for Covid-19, for the souls of the people who passed away fighting Covid-19. People also prayed for the banishment of Covid-19 pandemic.
Coimbatore: Over 500 plus worshipers took part in the customary Christmas prayer at St. Micheal's church following government's guidelines of Covid-19.

All churches in Coimbatore were decorated with bright shining lights to mark the birth of Baby Jesus. Special prayers and decorations were made at the 150 year old St. Micheal's church in Townhall.
Over 5,000 people gather at the St. Micheal's church every Christmas but this year with the fear of Covid-19 pandemic the number of worshipers are drastically reduced this year as per Tamilnadu government's Covid-19 prevention.

The Christmas mass along with other ceremonies started around 11.30 pmin the night. Worshipers were seen praying by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing in the seating area.

Around 12 in the midnight baby Jesus was placed on the crib as a ritual on Christmas. Later Father Thomas Aquinas carried the baby Jesus and went around the church telling about the history of Jesus and wishes everyone a Happy Christmas.
