NTC head office decides to reopen 3 Mills in Tamilnadu: All trade unions meeting to be held tomorrow
Coimbatore: In spite relaxations given under the ongoing lockdown implementation, all the 7 NTC mills in Tamil nadu continue to remain closed has made the workers upset. In this situation the NTC head office at Delhi has decided to reopen 3 NTC mills in Tamil Nadu which would soon be followed by other mills.
National Textile Corporation Limited, (NTC) is a schedule “A” public sector company under the ambit of the Ministry of Textile, Government of India, engaged in production of yarn and fabric through its 23 mills in operation. Out of the total, 7 mills are functioning in Tamil nadu among them 5 mills are located at Coimbatore namely, Murugan mills, Coimbatore spinning and weaving mills, Pankaja mills, Cambodia mills, Sri Ranga vilas mills, Kaleshwarar mills at Kalayarkoil, Pioneer spinners, Paramakudi.
There are more than 4,000 employees who are currently working in all the 7 mills functioning in Tamil nadu which includes permanent, daily wage category etc., Due to 'Covid 19' virus outbreak, all the spinning mills which includes both fully private and NTC mills were stopped. After the government gave relaxations for the industry sector to function, all the spinning mills which are fully private party owned started to function. Whereas 7 NTC mills in Tamil nadu continue to remain closed.
This has made workers upset. Trade unions have stressed the NTC head office to take needy actions ensuring all the NTC mills to start functioning. In this situation official sources have confirmed that the NTC head office has decided to reopen 3 mills in Tamil Nadu.
HMS union, state secretary, T.S.Rajamani said, "Today we have received confirmed news about the Reopening of NTC Mills. This decision has been taken at the meeting held at the Head office. This has given relief and hope to all the workers. We are confident that soon all the 7 Mills in Tamilnadu will be reopened. Tomorrow morning a meeting would be organised in which office bearers of All trade unions would be participating."
