Christmas and New Year helps Tirupur Monthly Textile Exports to Cross more than Rs 2,500 crores; 'TEA' Prez says nothing to worry but Exporters must be careful


Coimbatore: In spite of some uncertainties,Christmas and New year helps Tirupur Exports market continue to witness a steady Growth.

Indian Textile Industry plays a vital role in providing more job opportunities to the people. Tamil nadu caters 1/3rd of the total textile business across the nation. Our state holds 45% spinning capacity, it also holds 70% of the knitted garment facility. In Tamilnadu alone more than 60 lakh people have got direct employment.

80% textile machinery and 70% of the textile machinery accessories are made in industries functioning at Coimbatore. Tirupur plays a vital role in the national level textile Exports. On an average every month Rs 2,500 crores valued exports would be witnessed. At present in spite of some uncertainties, Christmas and new year has helped the exports market continue to witness a steady growth.

Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) President, Raja M Shanmugam said, 'Exports market is so far so good. More than Rs 2,500 crores valued Exports are witnessed every month. But there are some uncertainties witnessed due to 'Covid-19', We have to wait and see the sustainability. My message to the exporters is as if now things are looking good. But we should be more careful. Increase in the flight services at Coimbatore airport is a very good sign."
