Request to build more public toilets in Coimbatore North
Coimbatore: More than 3,000 families are living in the areas including AT Colony, Ellaithottam Road, Nehru Nagar Roads, Pioneer Mill Road, CMC Colony and Porikadai Lane in the 38th and 39th wards of Coimbatore North Zone.
Only 40 percent of the households in the area have toilets. Thus most of the people in the area are using the public toilets built on behalf of the corporation. The people of the area have demanded the construction of additional public toilets.

According to a petition filed by the Peelamedu area MDMK secretary at the Velliangiri corporation office, there are only four public toilets for more than 3,000 families at CMC Colony, Ellai Thottam Road junction, Porikkadai lane and Vengalakuttai area.
Due to the lack of toilet facilities, some of the people living in the Kattupaguthi of Peelamedu Bharathi Colony are using the open toilet. They urged that the corporation administration should inspect this and provide proper toilet facilities.
