Coimbatore: Christmas, celebrated on the 25th of December marks the birth of baby Jesus and is widely celebrated by Catholics across the globe.
As a part of the celebrations, special prayer sessions are being held tomorrow at various churches around the city. As per the government's request, all special masses and gathering will strictly follow the governments guidelines.
At St. Michael's Church a special mass is scheduled which is to be headed by Bishop Thomas Aquinas. The mass will begin around 11.30 pm today and the baby Jesus will be placed at the cottage around 12 midnight.
Similar events are being held at Puliyakulam St.Antony's church, St. Fathima Church, Rathinapuri St.Chinnapar church, Syrian Church at Brooke bond road, St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athipalayam and Infant Jesus Church in Kovaipudur. Early morning masses are scheduled to happen in Pothanur, Malumichampatti, Madukkarai, Kovaipudur and Perur.
All the ceremonies are to be celebrated by following government's guidelines to contain the spread of Covid-19. Pilgrims above the age of 60 are requested not to attend the mass and the worshipers are requested to have face masks on all the time along with maintaining social distancing.
