Dinesh Gundu Rao, in-charge of the Tamil Nadu Congress Party, visited the Marudhamalai Murugan Temple where he was given a special welcome by the District Chairman Mahesh Kumar. Speaking to reporters after the darshan, he said that the Tamil nadu government was discriminating in following the rules by denying permission for and public meetings by the opposition and said that this was reason for the tussle between police and the congress during the 'Ekalappai Yatra'.
He said that as far as the Congress party was concerned, the people of the country still loved the party and hoped that the Congress party would take a leading position in the coming elections. He said agreements on the constituency in Tamil Nadu have not been decided yet and will be announced later. When asked about the comments by the senior members of the Congress party about the defeat in the Bihar elections, he said it was a challenging time for the party. He added that it was not to comment but party restrictions must be respected by all.
He said it is not right to act against the party’s restrictions even though it was a senior party executive. The meeting was attended by Tamil Nadu Congress Party Executive Chairman Mohan Kumaramangalam, State General Secretary Selvam, Coimbatore North District Chairman VMC Manokaran, and Pachamuthu Saravanakumar, Nataraj, Ranganathan Mahendran, Gunasekara, Paramasivam Veerakeralam Mohanraj and Subbu Kamaraj.
