They said with the Diwali festival fast approaching, the economy is currently suffering and the public are struggling to purchase essentials as their livelihoods have been lost due to the coronavirus.

Condemning the central and state governments for failing to control the prices of essential commodities including onions, the members of AIDWA Association staged a protest in front of the Tirupur Corporation office wearing garlands made of vegetables and singing songs of lamentation.

As part of the protest, they demanded that unrestricted supply of essential items should be facilitated in ration shop ahead of Diwali.
