Jayachandran (age 32), a native of Coimbatore, Annai Indira Nagar, was an employee of a private company. He lost his parents and lived in a relative's house as he was not married. Jayachandran used to play rummy online. Thus the money he earned was lost in gambling. As the debts kept piling, Jayachandran got depressed.
Frustrated by this, Jayachandran committed suicide by hanging. The people of Kuniyamuthur area were deeply saddened by this incident. Public question how gambling on streets is an offence when the government allows online gambling.
They said as suicides continue to take place in Coimbatore, online gambling should be banned immediately and urged that the government should take action.
