Coimbatore: Adding to the recent bandwagon of complaints against Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Leader Thol Thirumavalavan by BJP and Hindu outfits alleging him for talking degoratorily about women and Manu Smriti, members of the Differently-abled Welfare Association here have filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner against him, on Monday.
Coimbatore: Adding to the recent bandwagon of complaints against Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) Leader Thol Thirumavalavan by BJP and Hindu outfits alleging him for talking derogatorily about women and Manu Smriti, members of the Differently-abled Welfare Association here have filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner against him, on Monday.
In their petition, they had mentioned the use of the word "lame or limping" by the VCK leader in his recent social media. They said that the usage of the word denigrates the differently-abled and depiction of disability through the usage of such words, has caused immense distress among them, they told in the petition.
They pointed that who are found guilty of crimes against persons with disabilities can be penalised as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Hindu Parivar organization also filed a petition at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office demanding immediate arrest of Thirumavalavan for insulting Hindu women.
