Tirupur: At a private wedding hall on Palladam Road in Tirupur, a public meeting called "Sangamam" was held on behalf of the BJP for youngsters who wish to join BJP.

The state vice president of the BJP, Annamalai, who participated as a special guest in the event, met reporters later.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that inspired by Prime Minister Modi's good governance and the policies of the BJP, youth are joining the BJP.

He said that the points he spoke about high power towers in an interview that he gave in Kangeyam have been distorted. He clarified that he just said that District Collector and Tahsildars are the ones who inspect and select sites for construction of the high power tower and that the Central Government was not involved in this.

He added, "I generously accept a few comments made by farmers on the power tower issue. As I am also a farmer, I do not want to argue with the farmers who are blood relatives. The Rs. 1 crore rupees declared for me should be used for the benefit of the farmers."

Talking about the issue of ABVP leader who was alleged to have behaved in an obscene manner in front of a Hindu woman's house being made a member of the AIIMS medical team, he said it was a problem between two persons residing in an apartment complex that was resolved smoothly. Thol. Thirumavalavan's comments cannot be viewed in the same light, he added.

He also said that the BJP is a party common to all religions and travel arrangements have been made for the Vel Yatra to begin on the Sashti day. He, however, accused the Congress party of doing divisive politics by arguing that permission should not be granted for the Yatra on December 6.

A large number of district and state executives of the BJP attended the event.
