Coimbatore: A consultative meeting on COVID-19 situation was held at the office of Minister SP Velumani in Coimbatore. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments including District Collector Rajamani, Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian, Commissioner of Police Sumit Charan, ESI Hospital Chief Nirmala and Government Hospital Chief Kalidas. The meeting discussed various issues such as the extent of COVID-19 prevention activities and the tasks to be undertaken by the district administration and the corporation administration.

The minister said that the district administration should take precautionary measures for the Northeast monsoon. He advised that the overbridge work at Kavundampalayam and Sungam should be completed as soon as possible. He said that all officials should immediately conduct field inspections and expedite the work.
He asked the public who have symptoms to go to the hospital immediately and treat themselves. He said, so far 12 lakh families have been provided with immune booster packs. He also said that disinfectants must be sprayed regularly in all government offices. He added that authorities should take immediate departmental action for quick completion of the Smart City project.
He also said that government guidelines must be followed to control the COVID-19 virus and various measures should be taken to create awareness among the public. He said Coimbatore district is currently experiencing a decline in the incidence of COVID-19 virus infection. He also said that tests are being carried out on 5,000 people a day in the Coimbatore district.

He said as it is the festival season everyone must wear a face mask. He said,"Authorities should also conduct field inspections at stores. Those coming from the other districts should treat themselves immediately if they have an infection. 10,000 COVID treatment beds are ready in the district." He also said that the corporation officials should continue to monitor the areas where the crowds are high during the Diwali festival and should spray disinfectants continuously in those areas.
He also said that income tax certificates, caste certificates etc. are being issued through the E-Seva centre in the district and action should be taken to make the certificates available to the users by conducting periodic inspections and investigations.
