Coimbatore: DMK cadres go on hunger strike in Kinathukadavu near Pollachi protesting the dismissal of party executives who were in charge of the party in the town.
The South District DMK has been divided into union and city/town for administrative purposes and new executives were appointed.

It is said that the executives who were in charge of Kinathukadavu have been removed altogether and new ones have been appointed.

Following this, the DMK cadres there went on a sudden hunger strike today, condemning the shocking removal of party executives who had worked for the DMK for nearly 40 years.
They said, "It is unfortunate that those of us who have worked for the DMK for about 20 to 40 years were given posts in the party only six months ago, and those of us who fought for the DMK's victory in the recent parliamentary elections have been removed from those posts without any investigation."
They therefore asked the party leadership to conduct a proper investigation and appoint the executives back. This has caused a stir within the DMK party.
