Vijayakarthikeyan for his exemplary efforts in handling migrant workers from Northeast during the pandemic situation.

In his letter dated September 28, the CM of Arunachal Pradesh noted that "COVID-19 Pandemic and the imposition of lockdown which was necessitated to break the chain of transmission of the virus had an impact on the students, migrant workers, tourists and patients stranded in various parts of the country.

Fear of the virus was further compounded for the stranded when faced with this unprecedented crises of being locked away from their family. Many faced various problems including eviction from rented accommodations, inability to go to work, lack of adequate essential food items etc and cases of racial discrimination against people from Northeast India also surfaced from few States.

However, under the able guidance of Govt of India and the excellent co-ordination between State Govts, we could alleviate their pain to a great extent. In this context, I would like to place on record the timely support on ground and assistance provided by you to the stranded people of Northeast in general and Arunachal Pradesh in particular.

I firmly believe that crises brings out the true character in a person. Your exemplary act of walking that extra mile to comfort those in distress will be a source of inspiration of many civil servants in their endeavour to serve this great nation", he wrote in his letter.
