The government of Tamil Nadu has lowered the age limit for teacher recruitment to 40 because of which a situation has arisen where lakhs of people who have completed teacher training cannot become teachers Therefore, they demanded the immediate withdrawal of the ordinance.

They also demanded withdrawal of action taken against more than 5,000 teachers and government servants who took part in the JACTO-GEO protest in January last year which has resulted in inability to receive pensions and promotions.
