Coimbatore: CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre has signed Memorandums of Understanding with organizations including Indian Air Force to commence operations.
The CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre is the first centre in India to be set up by the Central Government and started by an industry body.
The centre has been instrumental in contributing to the Southern Military Logistics Industry Corridor. The Center is to operate locally for the manufacture of military logistics and spare parts at the invitation of the Prime Minister of India's "Atma Nirbhar Bharat". CODISSIA Military Innovation Center and Atal Industrial Development Center today signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Naval Ship Repair Yard in Kochi, 5 BRD based in Sulur, Coimbatore and Indian Air Force.
The ceremony was held online at a private gallery on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary, Department of Defence, Government of India presided over the function. CODISSIA President Ramamurthy said, "Through this center, we can support and guide new and existing entrepreneurs who have new business plans that meet the military and domestic needs. It is planned to develop at least 10 entrepreneurs in the first year and to create five entrepreneurs in the coming year."
He also added that, "A single window information center is being set up in CODISSIA to facilitate the operation of small, medium and small enterprises based on the product, to exchange information on the needs of the three forces and defence sector organizations. A coordinating officer will be appointed from the Directorate of Quality Control to guide the small, micro and medium enterprises of the Center."
The event was attended by Sundaram, Director, CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre , Air Commander Sreekumar, Admiral Deepak Bansal, Sanjay Jaju, IAS from the Indian Ministry of Defence, Puneet Agarwal, IAS, Lieutenant General SK Upadhyay, Air Vice Marshal S. Ramakrishnan, Major General RK Malhotra, Indian Navy Officer Admiral V Mohandas, and Secretary,of Tamil Nadu Department of Industries, Muruganantham, IAS. Various officials and entrepreneurs including Niti Ayog Mission Director Shri Ramanan Ramanathan and MSME Secretary Gopal, IAS, were present.
