The Government of Tamil Nadu had announced that special pay would be given to the sanitary staff who are engaged in cleaning work during the COVID period throughout Tamil Nadu.

Condeming the non-payment of special pay to sanitary workers and Tirupur corporation's refusal to pay the minimum wage announced by the district administration and demanding the immediate payment of the minimum wage announced by the district administration and the refund of the money deducted from the salary of the sanitary workers, AITUC Health Workers' Union protested in front of the Health Department office at Karuvampalayam in Tirupur.
