At this meeting, the Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer P. Kumaravel Pandian said that Coimbatore Corporation Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 state that hotels and businesses producing more than 100 kg of solid waste per day are required to manage solid waste on their own.

He said that the corporation would provide scientific strategies in this regard and that all hotels and businesses should collect compostable and non-compostable waste in separate boxes and hand it over to the corporation's carts without using black polythene covers. He warned if the dumping of garbage in or out of the bin is detected by health inspectors, fines will be levied. Corporation Commissioner also said compostable and non-compostable garbage should be segregated and disposed of properly.

Following this, the Corporation Commissioner along with all the Zonal Health Officers, inspected the cleaning work and solid waste management being carried out in the Corporation. They also inspected the micro composting centres.



The consultative meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner of the Corporation S. Madhuranthagi, Executive Engineer (Smart City) Saravana Kumar, Health Inspector (Swachh Bharat Project) Thirumal, all Zonal Health Officers and Corporation officials.
