Viduthalai Siruthaigal leader Thol. Thirumavalavan visited Gobichettipalayam in Erode district to attend an engagement ceremony. BJP cadres there chanted slogans against Thirumavalavan, condemning him for his comments against women. Tense moments prevailed as the Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi members gathered at the spot. A pane in a van broke as a stone was pelted at it. As this caused a stir, police negotiated with both parties after which they dispersed.
Condemning the incident, the Viduthalai Siruthaigal in the Ramanathapuram area of Coimbatore staged a road roko on the Nanjundapuram Road and chanted slogans.
The sudden protest caused a traffic snarl for a few minutes on an already congested road due to bridge construction work on Trichy road. The police then held talks with the protestors following which they dispersed.
