Coimbatore: DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan has condemned posters cropping up in Coimbatore slandering DMK leader MK Stalin.
In his statement, he said the AIADMK Chief Minister Palanisamy, who is struggling to showcase his achievements, has supported indecent politics of putting up slanderous posters about the opposition leader.
He said that the anonymous posters put up by the AIADMK yesterday have resulted in strong protests by party cadres in several areas. He added that few posters were torn by the people who put them up andpolice were also involved in the act at several other places. He said it is disappointing that police in Coimbatore are puppets of Minister SP Velumani.
He said that neither police or the accused tore the posters in Kuniyamuthur area that caused agitation amongst the DMK cadres. They then lodged a complaint at the police station against the anonymous posters.
The DMK protested and then also filed a complaint about the anonymous posters at the Kuniyamuthur police station, but police have instead arrested DMK members. DMK General Secretary condemned the act and accused Minister SP Velumani for acting against democracy by giving the order to arrest the DMK cadres.
He accused that in the remaining six months that the minister will not only tamper the internal affairs department but also the police department. He added that the DMK will never accept the slandering of its party president.
He said, "I request that a case is registered against those who put up the slanderous posters and the police take stern action and withdraw the false allegations against the DMK." He warned of a protest by DMK if no case is registered against those who put up such posters.
