Coimbatore: Twelve DMK cadres have been arrested in Coimbatore for tearing down posters criticizing of DMK leader Stalin.
Posters depicting DMK leader Stalin as 'Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi' and DMK general secretary Durai Murugan as 'Manguni Amaichar' were seen on walls. There were posters that had the slogan, "Do you want a confident leader or a leader who relies on a piece of paper to read from?" Similarly, a few posters with the pictures of DMK leader Stalin, MP Kanimozhi, DMK youth wing leader Udayanithi Stalin and Edappadi Palanisamy had the question, "What would you believe in? Hard work or privileged birth?
The posters did not include details about the organization that posted them. Meanwhile, DMK cadres tore down these posters in Gandhipuram, Ramanathapuram, RS Puram and Kuniyamuthur.
In this context, the RS Puram police arrested DMK member Basheer for tearing down a poster in front of the Thondamuthur assembly member's office in the RS Puram area and also insulting AIADMK area secretary Srinivasan. Similarly, the Selvapuram police have registered a case against 4 persons including Minnal Siva and Cable Mani for tearing down posters in the Selvapuram area and the Kuniyamuthur police have registered a case against 7 persons in the Kuniyamuthur area. The 12 arrested were subsequently released on bail.
In this context, the DMK has announced that a protest led by DMK youth leader Udayanithi Stalin will be held in front of the Kuniyamuthur police station tomorrow, condemning the arrest of the DMK cadres who tore down the posters.
