Ration items that were to be delivered next Sunday were stored there.
More than a dozen wild elephants entered the Anamudi tea estate this morning and rounded up the ration shop.

They then smashed the windows and doors of the ration shop, broke in and ate and threw away the rice, lentils, sugar, oil and other items stored inside.

The shop was completely damaged due to this. After a few hours of struggle by the estate workers, the wild elephants moved on to the nearby forest. The forest department received information about this and is monitoring the wild elephants.
People here are still in a state of fear and panic as wild elephants continue to camp in the area. This has also disrupted the distribution of goods in the ration shop.
