KK Lane continues to shrink due to encroachments.

The Kadalaikara lane commonly referred as KK lane is a 15 feet small road, close to the Collectorate. It leads to the Avinashi road flyover. Day by day the road is getting shrunk due to the encroachments by the traders of that lane. Due to the irresponsible encroachments done by the traders on both the sides of the lane, barely one can find space to operate their two-wheelers.

Most of the traders in the KK lane are wholesale electrical appliance dealers. It is reported that these traders have encroached most part of the part of the lane by placing placards, dumping their goods, card boxes and even showcasing the products on the road. Presently, the 15 feet has shrunk to 5 feet.

During normal hours, motorists have to get ready for a roller coaster ride to pass through this lane. A few locals also share that on several occasions the concerned authorities have been notified of this problem. However, nothing has been done in this regard.  Necessary parking arrangements have to be made at the close by corporation parking centre, so that the congestion due to parking vehicles on both sides of the lane could be drastically reduced, say motorists.

A recent official announcement made by the Corporation Commissioner Dr. Vijayakarthikeyan apprises that the public can report such encroachments made at 'reserve sites' in their areas to the corporation WhatsApp helpline number 8190000200. To know the reserve site details of your area please logon to www.ccmc.gov.in and click the link 'reserve site'.
