BDA gives 25 lakh to land loser after suicide bid

BDA commissioner Rajkumar Khatri will on Wednesday meet the 72 property owners whose land was acquired for the grade separator at Kanteerva Studio junction on Outer Ring Road.

On Monday, one of the property owners, S Mangala, 50, consumed poison at the BDA headquarters, accusing the authority of not paying her Rs 4.4.-crore compensation four years after her land was acquired for the project.

Mangala, whose condition is stable now, was handed over a Rs 25-lakh cheque on Wednesday. Her son Karthik claimed she had visited the BDA office at least 400 times in the last three years to get the compensation.

Khatri said he will meet all the 72 property owners, along with Mahalakshmi Layout MLA Gopalaiah, at the BDA office on Wednesday to sort out the compensation issue. "In all, we have to pay Rs 131 crore to the land losers for this project," he said.
