It's a moment of pride for our city as our city-based Dr. Palanivelu from Gem hospital has been accoladed with the prestigious 'Dr. B C Roy National Award 2015' for the second time.
Dr. B C Roy award is the most prestigious award in the field of medicine in India. It was established in the year 1976 to commemorate Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. Under the aegis of the Medical Council of India, every year the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award will be presented to eminent medical fraternities in recognition of their outstanding contribution in the field of medicine. The award includes a silver medallion, a citation and Rs 1 lakh in cash.
Dr. C. Palanivelu of Gem Hospital has been accoladed with his prestigious 'B C Roy award 2015' for the second time in his career. In 2006, he was awarded with the prestigious award for his outstanding contribution in the development of Advanced Laparoscopic surgery in the country.
He was among the pioneering surgeons to introduce the ''Key hole concept of Minimal Access Laparoscopic surgery'' in India.
