Ettimadai residents demand action be taken on godown involved in waste segregation activity in their neighbourhood

Balasubramanian owns a piece of land in Ettimadai. The owner has given this land on lease to Saji from Kerala and Sadhil from Mysore. The residents of this area alleged that this land is being used as a godown to segregate waste.

The angry residents claim that the segregation of waste results in the emission of foul smell and this activity attracts flies and disease-causing mosquitoes too. Residents of this neighbourhood say this waste segregation activity makes this area unsafe for dwellers.

This morning about 23 truckloads of waste were stopped by the residents of this vicinity. These trucks were loaded with waste like meat, medical, cloth and plastic among other waste. The infuriated residents prevented the trucks from being emptied into this godown.

MLA Shanmugam from Kinathukadavu and Tahsildar Shivashankar visited this location this morning and pacified the agitated residents. They assured the residents that the needful would be done, on priority. Presently, the revenue department and the police of that jurisdiction are investigating this matter.
