Coimbatore: Today while the Sulur Police were involved in patrolling on the Kalangal Road within the Sulur Police Station limits, youngsters who were caught for stepping out for silly reasons were made to stand in a circle and perform the traditional 'Kummi' dance.
Coimbatore: Though the COVID-19 lockdown prohibits people from stepping outdoors unnecessarily, few people especially motorists continue to defy the lockdown by ventuting out for no obvious reasons. To teach a hard lesson to such violators, the Coimbatore City Police have been using several novel ways to convey the 'Stay Indoors' message.

Inspector Soundarapandian made the youngsters pledge a slogan which read, "We will not step out of the house after 1 PM", We will be responsible."
Videos of the youngsters doing the 'kummi' dance and pledging stay home slogan is widely circulated on social media.
The lockdown mandates that people can be out only from 6 AM to 1 PM for essential reasons.
