Coimbatore: So far, 80,000 plus packs of food has been distributed to the needy through the Coimbatore District Hoteliers Association who have pledged to provide food support till the lockdown ends.
In an ongoing food drive, the Coimbatore District Hoteliers Association (CDHA) have donated 3000 food packets, on Tuesday at Hari Bhavanam Hotel in Chinniyampalayam.
The food donation was made in the presence of District Collector K.Rajamani and it was presided by D.Srinivasan, President, CDHA.
D.Srinivasan, President, CDHA said “We have been doing this food drive for almost three weeks and so far prepared around 80,000 packets of food. We are planning to continue this till the lockdown is completed."
"Every five days, food is cooked on a rotational basis. Earlier, it was cooked at Sree Annapoorna, CockRaCo and Shree Anandhaas. Now, food is being prepared at the kitchen of Hari Bhavanam Hotel in Chinniyampalayam. Next week, it will be cooked at Hotel RHR."
"The funding for the food drive comes from the members of CDHA. Today, District Collector K. Rajamani and DO Food Safety, Tamil Selvan inspected the preparation and delivery", told the President of CDHA.
The food packets will be given to front line workers, Corporation staff, District Officials, Police, NGO and also to the public.
