Coimbatore: On the eve of World Toilet Day, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) in association with the Rotary Club of Coimbatore launched an initiative to conduct a quality check of 369 toilets that come under the Corporation’s ambit.
The quality audit will be conducted by the Clean Toilet organisation which is an NGO working in this field. The CCMC Commissioner, Sravan Kumar Jatavath launched this initiative and its website www.cleantoilet.org
Speaking on this, the CCMC Commissioner said “The Coimbatore Corporation along with the Rotary Club has launched this initiative to conduct a quality check of all the 369 toilets that come under the Coimbatore Corporation. We have assigned this to a third party to get the exact picture of the current status of our toilets in the city. A third party will do a better job in assessing us and we will know exactly the issues in the ground,“ he added.
The organisation will conduct a study and identify the gaps which will be addressed by the civic body. "The Corporation is working to keep the city’s public toilets clean and hygienic. Not all toilets will have the best of facilities like vending machines for sanitary napkins and incinerators but we want all our toilets to have better facilities and maintained properly. Our aim is that there should not be even one worst toilet in the city," reiterated the Commissioner.
Clean India will also conduct awareness programs for school children on sanitation and clean toilets.
