As part of nationwide protests, the Coimbatore Medical College students boycotted classes today. Over 100 students protested in front of the Coimbatore South Zonal office and raised slogans against the National Medical Commission decision of NEXT exams. They demanded that the NEXT exams be withdrawn since they were unnecessary and could lead to low quality doctors in the nation.
NEXT is proposed to become an examination equivalent to NEET for post-graduate medical courses across India. The proposed bill is expected to regulate NEXT as an exit examination that will conduct common counselling for admission into MBBS UG level and PG level medical courses.
