Coimbatore : In what could be a tragic incident after a long time, a tusker aged around 25 was killed by a speeding train near Walayar in the Palakkad District here.
According to sources, the animal was hit by the train close to the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border in the Palakkad side of Walayar. It had walked for four meters after being hit and succumbed inside the reserve on a teak plantation.
Officials of the Palakkad forest division are to conduct a post mortem on the carcass.
