Coimbatore : An awareness rally themed “Water Savings and Thrift” was organised by the students of Karunya Institute of Technology and Science at Mathvarayapuram Alanthurai here on Saturday.
E. James, Pro- Vice-Chancellor of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences flagged off the rally in which over 600 students of National Service Scheme (NSS) along with faculty members, Panchayat officials and Sub-Inspector of Police, Selvaraj took part.
The students carried placards denoting catchy slogans on water conservation.
"As part of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan Scheme by the Centre, students of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences will take part in activities like rejuvenating water bodies and tree plantation. The initiatives will be started off in Alanthurai and later to Vadavalli and Vadachittur areas" said the organisers.
Vice-Chancellor, Dr.P.Mannar, Registrar, Jawahar, Dr.R.Elijah Blessing, Chief Operating Officer of Seesha, Dr.Samuel Thomas, Head –Centre for Extension Activities and Co-ordinator of National Service Scheme, Dr.Manoj and others were present.
