Coimbatore: The enforcement wing of the Motor Vehicles Department, on Friday inspected private buses in the city for illegal air horns.
Coimbatore: The enforcement wing of the Motor Vehicles Department, on Friday inspected private buses in the city for illegal air horns.
During the inspection held at Coimbatore town bus stand, around 91 air horns were seized.
The team of officials headed by Zonal Transport Officer, T.M Baskar, inspected the buses in Coimbatore town bus stand and inter-city bus stand in Gandhipuram.
The Zonal Transport officer said, “The team was formed under the orders of District Collector, K. Rajamani, to inspect buses using high-intensity air horns, multi-tone horns and also disco lights. Close to 227 buses were inspected and 91 air horns were seized during the inspection."
He added that notices were given to 29 buses which had used these banned air horns. And, LED lights from 3 buses were also removed.
The Zonal officer asserted that such inspections will be continued to stop buses using banned air horns and distracting lights.
Motor Vehicle inspectors and Pollution Control Assistant Engineer Selvaraj, Transport Department Deputy Manager Radhakrishnan and others were present.
