Coimbatore: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) staged a protest at the city's railway station against the murder of the 15-year old boy, Halith Ansari from Uttar Pradesh.

The SDPI got into a scuffle with the police since they were being prevented from entering the railway station.

The SDPI party has been staging protests in various places against the murder of Halith Ansari who was burnt alive for not repeating "Jai Sri Ram.” The protest staged at the Coimbatore railway station condemned the act. “BJP supporters have been killing a number of Muslim youth for various reasons including beef-eating and religious differences. We demand strict action against the ones who murdered the child," demanded the protesters. Over 100 protesters were arrested by the police.
