Coimbatore: The city police arrested a man Ravi Kumar of Uppilipalayam for selling cannabis near a roadside eatery in Madukkarai and seized 1.5 kg of cannabis from him.
Coimbatore: The district police arrested a man Ravi Kumar of Uppilipalayam for selling cannabis near a roadside eatery in Madukkarai and seized 1.5 kg of cannabis from him.
Based on the orders of Superintendent of Police, Sujith Kumar IPS, the district police are taking action, aiming to prevent the sale of cannabis in the border areas of Coimbatore District.
Special squad Police monitor the cannabis dealers and users. Meanwhile, Muthu Kumar, Sub Inspector of Police, of Madukkarai received a tip-off that cannabis was being sold in a Parotta shop.
On the orders of DSP Balamurugan, Sub Inspectors Muthu Kumar, Shah Jahan and constable Ranjith arrested the cannabis dealer Ravikumar and seized 1.5 kg of cannabis and a two-wheeler with registration number bounded to MTP from him.
Police found out that one Ravi Prasad (31), a resident of Uppilipalayam has been selling cannabis targeting women in his Parotta shop. In addition to this, the police found out that the vehicle he was using is owned by Palaniyammal, a resident of Seeliyur, Kalampalayam, who was arrested by police ten days before and is behind bars.
Ravi Prasad and Palaniammal shared an illicit relationship and were involved in the sale of cannabis.
Ravi Prasad, in an attempt to escape from the police, injured himself with a mild fracture in his hand.
He is being treated in the prison section of the Govt Hos.
