About Rs 2 lakhs worth plastic waste materials were destroyed in the fire. 

The godown belongs to Paramasivam (60), a resident of Velliankadu, Tirupur.



Two fire tenders and one private water container were pressed into service to douse the fire. Pramasivam is a scrap dealer, who buys old gunny bags and plastics before reselling them. 

The nearby residents alerted the Palladam police and Tirupur South Fire station. The firefighters who rushed the spot battled with the flames for long. 



Meanwhile, fire engines from North Tirupur fire station rushed to the spot as a reinforcement. It took two hours before the last embers were put out.
