Coimbatore : The City Corporation has commenced the feasibility study for the integrated bus terminus project proposed to come up in Vellalore.
Coimbatore : The City Corporation has commenced the feasibility study for the integrated bus terminus project proposed to come up in Vellalore.
An announcement regarding the project was made by the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in the Tamilnadu Assembly on July 11.
The proposed bus terminus would come up on 61.62 acres of land and at the cost of Rs. 178.26 crores.
“The project is still in the initial stage. Discussions are being held with the State Finance department. During the course of the discussion, the Corporation and the State Government’s share towards the contribution of funds would be finalized,” said Corporation Commissioner J Sravan Kumar.
CCMC Commissioner said that “the civic body has commenced the feasibility study of the project and the study would be completed within a couple of weeks. The study is to understand the impact of the project on the city’s traffic network system”
“The Corporation had earlier in 2015 prepared a City Mobility plan which included Metro Rail project and Vellalore Integrated bus stand. But announcements were not made then. After the projects were announced, the City Corporation has taken up a feasibility study for the bus stand on how it will affect the city traffic among other factors. Feasibility study for the Metro Rail project has also been started. A parallel study by two Consultants of RITES would also be conducted, “he added.
