Coimbatore: Justice Gnanasambandham dismissed the bail petition of Nirmal Kumar, the DVK District Secretary and ordered Nirmal Kumar to be kept in custody till August 9 for his controversial post on Facebook.

Based on the complaint lodged on Nirmal Kumar by Mani, the Kattur Police arrested Nirmal Kumar for posting "Come if you have guts" on his Facebook wall. The dare was addressed to Arjun Sampath, the President of the Hindu Makkal Katchi, following the murder of a youth at Nagapattinam since he had shared a picture of him having beef soup. He was booked under IPC section 505(2). The cops then produced Nirmal Kumar in the judges quarters at Racecourse.

Meanwhile, a team of 15 lawyers supporting Nirmal Kumar filed a bail petition at the Criminal Justice Arbitration No. 2. However, the public prosecutor appealed to the Justice Gnanasambandhan to dismiss the bail petition stating that if he is granted bail, then there are chances that he would destroy the evidence which will disrupt the investigation. Following the hearing, Justice Gnanasambhandan dismissed the bail petition filed by Nirmal Kumar's team of lawyers.
