The body of Kaliyamoorthy was found with head injuries as he might have been struck with boulders and murdered by the persons involved.

South zone Deputy Commissioner Naveen Kumar and Panchayat Police Inspector Devaraj, who rushed to the spot recovered the body and sent it for postmortem.
Kaliyamoorthy (48) who had lived in Mahalakshmi Nagar, Mutthanakulam, Tirupur was a native of Nettapaakam, Pondicherry. He had lived with his son Arunachalam (18) and a 16-year-old daughter.

After misunderstandings with his wife 7 years ago, Kaliyamoorthy had separated from her and settled in Tirupur for the past seven years.
Kaliyamoorthy, who was working as a tailor in a hosiery unit at Tirupur was an alcoholic. Police sniffer dogs were pressed into service at the crime spot and police are looking at the case from many angles.
