Coimbatore: A sandalwood tree from a residence in Saibaba Colony was axed and smuggled, late Tuesday night.


Coimbatore: A sandalwood tree from a residence in Saibaba Colony was axed and smuggled, late Tuesday night. 



Premkumar, a LIC agent who is a resident of Bharathi Park 2nd Street in Saibaba Colony had a sandalwood tree in his compound. This morning, he noticed that the 30-feet sandalwood tree from his house had been axed. Premkumar then registered a complaint with the Saibaba Colony police who arrived at the spot and began their investigation with the help of CCTV footage from the neighbourhood.



It is to be recalled that just a day ago, a 10-feet tall sandalwood tree was stolen from the Mettupalayam Forest Department office. The city police nabbed two men who were involved in the theft. This incident not only challenged the police to keep a vigil but also caused a stir among the public.
