Coimbatore: The police rescued two Class 5 students of a private school in Udumalpet at the Coimbatore International Airport on Tuesday.
Coimbatore: The police rescued two Class 5 students of a private school in Udumalpet at the Coimbatore International Airport on Tuesday.
The students had reportedly left their homes and were found lounging at the Coimbatore International Airport. The Airport police became suspicious and enquired with the girls who were in their school uniform. The two girls mentioned that they were from Udumalpet and had to leave home since they felt that their parents were not taking care of them.
The girls also reportedly told the security personnel that after Tuesday’s classes in school, they had taken a bus via Pollachi and landed at Coimbatore airport. The police then informed the parents who arrived to take the girls back home after reassuring them of their constant love and support.
Of late, instances of school students fleeing from their homes for various reasons has been on the rise and news of such students going missing has been widely circulated on social media.
While some of them have been rescued by social activists, members of the public and the police, others have sadly fallen prey to child traffickers. A similar incident was reported in the city as recently as yesterday.
