Tirupur: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Tamil Nadu postal department had announced of releasing a pack of 11 interlinked ‘Gandhi Yatra Carried Special Covers’ on the theme of Gandhiji’s visit to Tamil Nadu from July 26 to August 2.
Tirupur: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Tamil Nadu postal department had announced of releasing a pack of 11 interlinked ‘Gandhi Yatra Carried Special Covers’ on the theme of Gandhiji’s visit to Tamil Nadu from July 26 to August 2.
As part of the initiative, 11 places Gandhi travelled in Tamil Nadu has been ear-marked and special covers will be released. In accordance to this, the TN postal department (West Zone) arranged an event in Tirupur on Tuesday to release the special cover.
The event was held at the office of Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA). Special covers on Mahatma Gandhi and Freedom fighter Tirupur Kumaran were released.
Sadhanandham, great grandson of Tirupur Kumaran received the special covers. As part of the event, stamps of Queen Victoria and Mahatma Gandhi which were released in various countries were kept for display.
