Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a 10-month-old child was murdered by its own grandfather near Kinathukadavu in Pollachi on Monday.
Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a 10-month-old child was murdered by its own grandfather near Kinathukadavu in Pollachi on Monday.
Kumar (30) along with his wife Muthumalai and child Darshini were living in Karuppampalayam in Kinathukadavu near Pollachi.
According to police reports, Selvaraj (48) Kumar's father who came to his house forcefully took away the child from Muthumalai and left the house.
The couple informed their relatives and searched for Selvaraj in the nearby areas. As they could not locate him, they registered a complaint at Kinathudavau police station.
The police launched a search to nab him.
In the meanwhile, Police found that Selvaraj's phone was switched on near Kinathukadavu railway track. A team of Police rushed to the spot and nabbed him there.
Upon investigation, the Police found out that the Selvaraj had attacked the child with a boulder, before disposing of the body.
The police then took him to locate the corpse of the child. The child's body was retrieved near Kinathukadavu and sent to Coimbatore Government hospital for post mortem.
Initial investigation reveals, that Selvaraj had murdered the child to revenge his son and daughter-in-law who had been quarrelling with his second wife because of which she left him.
After the post mortem, the body of the child has been handed over to the parents. Selvaraj has been produced in court and remanded in custody.
