The elephant herds are found near the Runnymede Railway station as the region has elephant fodder including pear, jackfruit and other fruits.
The forest officials said that the elephants will move towards the Mettupalayam forests on its own once the fruits season gets over.
“Until then the elephants should be left undisturbed” they said.
However, the forest officials said that precaution has been taken to keep the tunnels free from elephant passage and keep the elephants away from NMR tracks.
