According to foresters of the Coimbatore Range, they had received information about the peacock that had lain hidden under a vehicle.
The bird was also scared of the crowd that had gathered to get a glimpse of it.
Merlin, an Animal Rights activist from Rathinapuri had taken the bird inside her house and duly informed the forest department staff.
Soon afterwards members of the Rapid Response Team arrived at the spot. Later they rescued the bird and released it inside the Reserve forest.
