Tirupur: The Student Federation of India (SFI) laid siege to the District Collectorate demanding free laptops that were promised to the students who had passed out of the Government schools in the past two years.

A day after 50 alumni of various Government schools laid siege to the Collector's office and staged a dharna demanding the "free laptops" that had been promised to them when they were in school, a similar protest was staged by the SFI today. SFI laid siege to the District Collectorate demanding that the free laptops which were promised to the ex alumni of Government schools ought to be granted immediately.

Free laptops which were promised to students who passed out of Government Schools in Tirupur between the year 2017-2019 had not yet been granted while the present academic year students had already been provided with the free laptops. The Students Federation of India thus petitioned the District Collector for alleged discrimination in distributing "free laptops."
