The Nilgiris : In a tragic incident a 45-year-old labourer was attacked and killed by a wild elephant, at Pandhalur in the Nilgiris District today.
The deceased, Karuppaiah, was a worker in the Mango Range Tea Estate. The incident happened when he had ventured out of his house to use the lavatory.
An elephant that was moving in the bushes attacked him and killed him on the spot. His mortal remains were taken to the Gudalur Government Hospital for autopsy.
In another such incident, Vijaya (45) and Kannan (28) were injured while being chased by a wild elephant at Nellikunnu Village in Dhevar Shola.
