Coimbatore: The Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) members of the Coimbatore East region petitioned the District Collector today on various demands like relocating some of the bus stops and beefing up police presence in the main areas of the city.

In their petition, the KMDK cadres requested to relocate bus stops at the signals of Avinashi Road, Trichy Road, MTP, Pollachi and Sathy road and urged measures to control peak hour traffic congestion in areas such as Sungam, Sundarapuram, Eechanari, Saravanampatti and Ganapathy, which cause much inconvenience to the public.
Speaking about the same, Dhanapal, the Secretary of the party (East zone) said that since there was heavy traffic flow from Ganapathy to Saravanampatti, the high-level bridge, service roads and parking areas in these areas should be regulated and streets needed to be repaired.
He also noted that more traffic police should be appointed in Peelamedu and Sitra. Dhanapal also urged the District Collector K Rajamani to construct an over bridge for pedestrians.
