Forest officials reveal tiger count in TN as 264 at awareness program held in Ooty to mark International Tiger Day

The Nilgiris: With July 29 marked as International Tiger Day, every year, various awareness programs were conducted in Mudumalai, Bandipur, Wayanad and Sathyamangalam forest regions. 



At one such awareness program in Ooty Arts College, forest officials and enthusiasts revealed that the number of tigers in Mudumalai, Bandipur, Wayanad and Sathyamangalam forest reserves had increased, as per recordings on camera. "The present count of tigers in Tamil Nadu is 264 and awareness programs are continually conducted for students at Ooty Arts College," revealed the forest officials. 

In the recently hosted awareness program, the College Principal Eashwaramoorthy and professors of the Wild animals and Forestry Department revealed that trails were important for breeding of tigers as well as their well-being.
