The Nilgiris: Over 200 families living in Kattabetu village near Ooty have petitioned District collector to close down the TASMAC shop functioning in their area, as it causing lot of inconvenience to the women, children and other road users.
“The TASMAC outlet functioning in the main road is causing a lot of inconvenience to the school children and women passing by” they said.
Environmental degradation is also caused by the mounds of plastic waste disposed by the tipplers. Moreover they are found to be lying unconscious in the roads and drinking and littering bottles on the roads itself.
Hence the villagers have urged the District Collector to close down the TASMAC outlet permanently.
“The TASMAC outlet functioning in the main road is causing a lot of inconvenience to the school children and women passing by” they said.
